Fairfield Co. deputies investigating after firefighters find smoking church van

 

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office says on Monday firefighters found a smoking church van in Ridgeway.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 7, Fairfield County Fire Service responded to Lebanon United Presbyterian Church (667 US 21 S, Ridgeway) for a smoking church van.

According to the sheriff’s office, firefighters found the driver’s side window of the van smashed with a brick, and began to extinguish the flames.

Around the same time, the FCSO deputies responded to an alarm at the church, and discovered two bricks had been thrown through a window.

Investigators say its appears no one entered the church; however, the van is a total loss.

The sheriff’s office along with SC Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Arson and ATF agents, and Fairfield Fire Service are investigating the case.
