Federal Judge rules Trump Administration ban against Associated Press is unconstitutional
(AP) — A federal judge says the decision by the White House to ban the Associated Press is unconstitutional.
In the preliminary injunction issued Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden who is a Trump appointee said “Viewpoint Discrimination” goes against the Constitution.
Earlier this year, the Trump Administration banned the Associated Press access to the presidential events. This included occasions taking place in the oval office and on air force one.
The action was to punish the news organization over its decision to continue using the phrase “Gulf of Mexico.”
Trump renamed the body of water “Gulf of America” in an executive action after taking office in January.
