See smoke in the sky? Congaree National Park conducting prescribed burn

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– If you see smoke in the air across the Midlands, don’t worry.
Congaree National Park is conducting a prescribed burn April 14-16.
A park spokesperson says they plan on burning away underbrush on more than 900 acres, that would serve as fuel in the event of a wildfire.
According to the South Carolina Forestry Commission nearly 400 wildfires broke out in the state last month.
