Band teacher at Fairfield Central High arrested for sexual battery of student

WINNSBORO, SC (WOLO) — On April 25, Richland County investigators say they were notified by the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office about a sexual battery that occurred in Richland County.

According to investigators, 28-year-old Timothy Bryant, a band director for Fairfield Central High School, had sexual relations with a student and is being charged with sexual battery with that student. He was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. On Saturday afternoon, Bryant was released on a $10,000 surety bond.

Fairfield Central High School released the following statement:

Fairfield County School District was recently informed of an inappropriate relationship between a former employee and a high school student. Upon learning of the allegation, the district immediately reported the matter to law enforcement, in accordance with all legal requirements and district policies. The employee is no longer with the district, and the district is continuing to fully cooperate with law enforcement. The investigation confirmed that no inappropriate conduct occurred on district property or during school-related activities. Student safety remains the district’s highest priority. The district responded promptly, followed all established protocols, and provided appropriate support to the student involved. We remain fully committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for every student.

Bryant has been ordered to have no contact of any kind with the student.
