Arrest made in South Congaree armed robbery

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — According to the South Congaree Police Department, 20-year-old Nathaniel Wayne Thomas has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery investigation in the Town of South Congaree.

With assistance of the City of Columbia Police Department & the Lexington Medical Center Public Safety, police say the armed robbery of the local business involved multiple victims.

Thomas and a co-defendant are mutually charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a crime, criminal conspiracy and presenting a firearm at persons which also includes a small female child two years of age & her mother.

Thomas has been released from the Lexington County Detention Center on a $23,000 surety bond.

The co-defendant, 20-year-old Antwan Sumter Jr., remains at large and is being actively pursued by law enforcement. Law enforcement asks that any member of the public that recognizes the co-defendant or knows of his whereabouts to call 911 or local law enforcement.
