Forest Acres police report widespread mail theft overnight
FOREST ACRES, SC (WOLO) — The Forest Acres Police Department is following multiple leads in a widespread overnight mail theft spree in the city.
In a press release, the department reports dozens of mailboxes being compromised. The cases are currently being investigated by FAPD with the possibility of being elevated to federal charges through the USPS.
At this time, the affected residential streets are Willingham Drive, Bethel Church, Gamewell, Roper, Parrish, and Rolling Pines.
FAPD asks that if you suspect your mailbox was vandalized and have not yet made contact with FAPD, call their non-emergency line at 803- 782-9444 to start the process of filing a report.
Investigators are combing surveillance on several street security cameras and are following several strong leads.
FAPD Chief Don Robinson is also encouraging homeowners in the surrounding areas to check their security cameras even if you were not affected, to see if you have any footage that could help officers in this ongoing investigation.
