Online job listing companies Careerbuilder, Monster files for bankruptcy

(CNN)– Job board websites Monster and Career Builder have filed for bankruptcy after merging last year.

At the height of their popularity, the two websites ruled the online job board sphere in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

The emergence of websites like Linkedin and Glassdoor have since dethroned the former leaders in online job searching.

Executives are taking the necessary steps to ensure a seamless transition including selling their job boards and government software services to several buyers.
