Senator Josh Kimbrell joins race for governor

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WOLO) — State Senator out of District 11, Spartanburg County, officially joined the race to the governor’s office on Saturday.

The 2nd term Republican kicked off his gubernatorial campaign at Bowen’s Landing in Inman to a crowd of supporters.

According to Kimbrell’s website, if elected, he plans to eliminate state income taxes, expand immigration enforcement, and implement universal school choice.

In 2020, Kimbrell flipped the seat held for almost 30 years by Democratic State Senator Glenn Reese.

Kimbrell joins Attorney General Alan Wilson, who announce his run last week.

Other official announcements are believed to come from Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette, Representative Nancy Mace, and Representative Jermaine Johnson.
