Firework ordinances: 4th of July weekend
As the 4th of July weekend rolls in people all around the state will be celebrating America’s Independence.
Here are some rules to keep in mind if you celebrate the weekend with fireworks.
WEST COLUMBIA:
Fireworks can only be discharged on July 4th from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. in the City of West Columbia.
LEXINGTON COUNTY:
People in Lexington County should be aware of the noise ordinance that is in place in the county.
On July 4th people can pop fireworks until 11 p.m. After 11 p.m. there will be a $150 fine.
CITY OF COLUMBIA:
The City of Columbia has ordinances in place to ensure fireworks are used safely and respectfully.
Fireworks are permitted between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., except on July 4 and New Year’s Eve, when use is allowed until 12:30 a.m.
Fireworks are not permitted in city parks.
RICHLAND COUNTY:
Using fireworks in unincorporated areas of Richland County from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. violates the county’s ordinance.
Fireworks are restricted within 600 feet of a school or church, aside from private property.
The first offense is up to $500, and the third offense is up to $1000.
Fireworks can be used until 1 a.m. on Saturday, July 5.
City of Cayce:
On Friday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. sparklers and toy caps are allowed at all times.
