FDA: Ai tools cites nonexistent studies

(CNN)– The FDA is having issues with artificial intelligence.

Earlier this year, the Food and Drug Administration unveiled “ELSA” — an Ai tool that’s expected to speed-up the process for approving drugs and medical devices.

But according to three current FDA employees “ELSA” is creating studies that don’t exist.

They say that makes it hard to trust the tool for their most vital work and research.

“ELSA” also can’t get access to many relevant documents that are needed to determine if devices and drugs are effective.

Ai use in medicine has minimal federal oversight.
