Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office warns people about phone call scam

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Orangeburg County deputies say that the voice of a man claiming to be Sergeant Harter with the sheriff’s office is calling.

But there is one problem though, there is no Sergeant Harter with the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office, says the sheriff.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says this is the latest version of a scam where fraudsters pretend to be law enforcement in order to get victims to send money.

If you get one of these calls hang up immediately.
