COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Law enforcement, advocates, and survivors of human trafficking from across the Carolinas are gathering in the Midlands this week.
A conference is taking place on Wednesday, July 30, and Thursday, July 31, at the Marriott in Downtown Columbia.
Organizers say session topics will cover prevention, trauma-informed responses, online exploitation, and the role of regional coordination.
Those who spoke with ABC Columbia say coordination is critical when combating human trafficking.
According to the Attorney General’s Office there were close to 400 victims of human trafficking in South Carolina last year.
