FCSO: 3 in custody in relation to Lake Wateree area homicide
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Three people are in custody after reports of a shots fired at a home in the Lake Wateree area, say Fairfield County deputies.
The sheriff’s office says deputies responded to a report of shots fired at a home located on Durham Place Road in the Lake Wateree area of Fairfield County.
When deputies arrived to the scene, they entered the home and discovered one individual unresponsive and another suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip.
An investigation determined that three males were present when an argument broke out.
During the altercation, one suspect produced a handgun and shot a female victim in the neck, say FCSO deputies.
Also, deputies say the same suspect then shot a second victim in the hip before leaving the scene with the other two men.
The female victim, identified as Laporsha Jasma Farr, 37, of Lanier Street in Spartanburg succumbed to her injuries at the scene,
While the second victim was taken to Prisma Health Richland and remains in stable condition, according to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say Thursday, Aug 14, would have been Farr’s 38th birthday.
Benny L. Grady and William E. Mack were taken into custody without incident.
And after a 3 hour stand-off in Greenville County, the murder suspect, Jerry L. Jones was taken into custody on Thursday, Aug. 14.
Jerry L. Jones of Greenville is charged with murder, attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Benny L. Grady, and William E. Mack both are charged with accessory after the fact.
Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains ongoing.
