Richland County deputies investigating Friday afternoon apartment shooting

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County deputies are investigating a Friday afternoon murder that happened at an apartment complex, according to RCSD.

Law enforcement say deputies responded to apartments at 1051 Southern Drive in reference to a shooting with one person hit by gunfire on Aug. 22, around 12:30 p.m.

When deputies arrived to the scene, they found one victim with a gunshot wound to the upper body, and unresponsive.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

Deputies say the suspect(s) fled prior to deputies’ arriving.

The shooting is still an active investigation and crime scene, says Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Non-residents of The Roost apartments are encouraged to avoid the complex in order to allow law enforcement space to work.
