Nvidia takes $5 billion stake in Intel

(CNN)– Chipmaker Nvidia said it will take a $5 billion stake in Intel.

The purchase makes Nvidia a major shareholder of the tech company alongside the U.S. government.

Last month, President Trump announced the government was making an $8.9 billion investment in Intel’s common stock.

It’s part of the Trump Administration’s efforts to boost semiconductor manufacturing in the United States, and Cement America’s position as a leader in the global chipmaking industry.
