SC Superintendent of Education visits Columbia High School’s magnet program

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Some Midlands high school students are reaching for the stars.

Wednesday afternoon, October 29, State Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver got a first hand look at Columbia High School’s Blast Magnet Program.

Blast stands for Building Lasting Aerospace and Stem Trajectories.

Superintendent Weaver says this program shows given the right direction there are no heights South Carolina students cannot reach.

District officials say the blast program is funded through a $14.9 million K through 12 federal magnet school assistance grant.
