Menorah Lighting held at SC Statehouse
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– For the Midlands’ Jewish community an event at the State House is serving as a beacon of hope after the tragic shooting at Bondi Beach in Australia.
People from across the area as well as Governor Henry McMaster gathered at the State House last night for the 20th annual Isadore E. Lourie Memorial Hanukkah Menorah Lighting.
During the ceremony, the Governor and some lawmakers addressed the recent acts of anti-semitism and spoke of being “the light in the darkness” this Hanukkah.
One rabbi who spoke with ABC Columbia believes the need to fight against hatred in this climate is more important than ever.
