RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– RCSD says a teen has pled guilt in reference to a 2023 police chase that resulted in the death of a passenger in his vehicle.
On Tuesday, December 16, Cobb pled guilty to failure to stop for blue light and siren resulting in death and 2 counts of failure to stop for blue light and siren resulting in great bodily injury.
Cobb was given a 13-year sentence with 3 years of credit for time served.
Also, his driver’s license has been permanently revoked.
Investigators due to the chase that ended when the vehicle crashed into a pond, 16 year-old Brandon Nunez died at the scene.
“This was a tragic incident that could’ve been avoided if he hadn’t tried to flee. Deputies saved the lives of four people – unfortunately, one could not be saved. Justice was served when the driver took responsibility for his actions today. Sadly, a life was lost due to his irresponsible decisions the day of the incident,” Sheriff Lott commented.
