SCDPH: Alarming rise in SC flu deaths

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)–  A troubling trend is emerging as the state moves through the peak of this year’s Flu season.

From December 21 to December 27, 9 Flu-related deaths were reported in South Carolina, according to the South Carolina Department of Public Health.

That brings the total number of Flu-related deaths this season to 16.

During the same period, 735 Flu-related hospitalizations were reported statewide.

Health officials expect those numbers to increase once data from the full holiday travel period is released.
