Two Arrested After Fatal Shooting Of Woman On Assembly Street

According to the Columbia Police Department, investigators have arrested and charged two people in connection with the murder of a woman on Assembly Street in Columbia.

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — According to the Columbia Police Department, investigators have arrested and charged two people in connection with the murder of a woman on Assembly Street in Columbia.

On Saturday night around 8:30 p.m., a woman was found shot to death in the 2000 block of Assembly Street. The responding officer rendered First Aid to the victim before EMS took her to a local hospital, according to Columbia PD. The victim died at the hospital.

Daequon Cole was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He’s accused of arguing and fighting with the 27-year-old victim moments before the isolated shooting on Saturday night.

He is also charged with felon in possession of a firearm due to a 2015 accessory after the fact of murder conviction in another jurisdiction.

Cole remains at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Cole’s reported girlfriend, Chelsy Kyzer, is charged with accessory after the fact of murder, and is accused of helping Cole evade police custody.

Kyzer also remains in jail on a $10k surety bond.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office is assisting with the investigation.
