People on GLP-1 drugs regain weight

(CNN)– A new University of Oxford review of research says many patients will return to their starting weight within two years of ending the treatment.

The data shows this weight regain happens even faster than it does for people who lose weight through diet and exercise alone.

The drugs work by mimicking a hormone that tells the brain and the gut that you’re full.

But once you stop the shots, experts warn your body may produce less of its own natural hormone and become less sensitive to its effects.
