Deputies arrest wanted man after foot chase
SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Sumter man with outstanding warrants was arrested after a chase on Tuesday afternoon, say deputies.
While patrolling the area surrounding South Pike East, a Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw a vehicle with suspended tags and activated their emergency equipment to make a traffic stop.
Investigators say the person who was identified as Ronnie Dashawn Abram, Jr., stopped at a convenience store on Miller Road and ran from his vehicle while attempting to escape deputies.
After a foot chase that included jumping a fence, Abram was detained by deputies.
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators recovered marijuana, a scale, and multiple packages of drugs that Abram had in possession.
After being placed under arrest, deputies served the additional warrants for manufacture and distribution of narcotics.
Abram, Jr., was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and released on bond.
