Lexington schools accidentally placed on lockdown

 

 

 

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WOLO)– Officials with Lexington School District One say two high schools were put on lockdown by mistake Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026.

Officials say at White Knoll High School, there was a fight and a school employee accidentally triggered an alert for a lockdown.

At Lexington High School, officials say an employee inadvertently triggered an alert.

ABC Columbia was told both situations were resolved quickly and parents were notified of the mistakes.

officials say while these accidents have happened in the past, these are the first since schools returned earlier this month.
