Drone helps Fairfield County deputies find missing man

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Deputies in Fairfield County say a drone helped them find a missing elderly man earlier this week.
Investigators say around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, Jan. 21, deputies responded to a report of a missing man on Matthews Drive.
The man had been missing since 4:30 p.m. that afternoon.
When deputies couldn’t find the man, officials say a newly donated drone equipped with thermal imaging technology was deployed to assist with the search.
Deputies say the man was ultimately found at a nearby structure on McDuffie Road.
He was taken to MUSC Fairfield for observation.
