LIST: Closings around the Midlands as Winter weather may impact the state
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– As weather forecasters have predicted snow in the near future, places, and churches around the Midlands have announced closures.
South Carolina State Museum:
Museum officials have announced that due to inclement weather, the South Carolina State Museum will be closed on Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1, to ensure the safety of visitors and staff.
The COMET:
COMET officials say The COMET, the fixed-route, DART, and USC transit service is suspended for Saturday, January 31, out of an abundance of caution due to inclement weather and potentially hazardous conditions.
All services will proceed as normally scheduled for today, Friday January 30.
South Carolina Ballet:
The South Carolina Ballet has moved its Midsummer Night’s Dream ballet performance due to the weather.
The new date for the performance will be next Friday, February 7, at 7 p.m. at the Koger Center.
Those holding matinee tickets for the previous date will be upgraded to premium seating for the new date.
Pelion American Legion Post 101:
The weather has postponed the Great Pelion jail break that was set for this weekend.
The Pelion American Legion Post 101 announced they’ve moved it to next Saturday, Feb. 7,
It’ll take place at the Pelion Senior Center.
Fairfield County Recycling & Recreation Facilities:
All Fairfield County Recycling Centers and Recreation Facilities/Activities will be closed on Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1, due to the potential impact of the Winter Storm.
All facilities will reopen when conditions are deemed safe, according to Fairfield Co. officials.
Greater Target AME Church:
Greater Target AME Church on 7248 Old State Road in Holly Hill has canceled church service on Sunday, Feb. 1.
Richland Library:
Due to impending inclement weather, Richland Library will be closed on Saturday, January 31, 2026, and will remain closed on Sunday, February 1.
Library officials say there is a plan to resume normal business hours on Monday, February 2, if weather conditions permit it.
People can still access the library’s resources and information online.
County of Orangeburg:
Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Orangeburg County Library, Landfill and Convenience sites will be closed on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
