SC Troopers urging everyone to stay off icy, slick roads

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Roads across the state are treacherous. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, throughout the state, they are dealing with accidents. SC Troopers are urging everyone to enjoy the snow at home and if you’re driving on the roadways to continue to drive with caution.
In the County of Lexington, SC they are reporting roads are slippery and icy. For your safety, please stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary say officials.
There is currently one road closure:
Old Lexington x Wessinger Rd.
⚠️ There are about 50 roads with hazardous conditions at this time in Lexington County.
The Chapin Police Department reports Snow has now transitioned to ice, making travel extremely difficult and dangerous. Roads are slick, visibility is reduced, and the chances of sliding off the roadway are extremely high.

Remember, bridges, overpasses, and roads less traveled freeze first. Avoid driving if possible.

If you must drive, reduce your speed, avoid sudden braking, and look out for ice and slick roadways, per emergency officials.
