January jobs report delayed

(CNN)– For the second time in four months, a partial federal government shutdown is silencing key economic data.

That includes the closely-watched January jobs report.

Monday, February 2, 2026, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said it will not release the January jobs report and other labor market data this week because of the partial federal government shutdown.

BLS officials say the agency has suspended the collection, processing, and release of labor market data until funding is restored.

The government partially shut down January 31 after lawmakers failed to reach a funding agreement tied to disputes over Homeland Security policy.
