LIST: School closures, changes around the Midlands
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Schools in the Midlands are beginning to change their schedules are forecasters announce the possibility of snow impacting parts of the Palmetto State.
Forecasters have predicted a Winter storm that will have temperatures below-freezing and have the potential for snowfall.
Benedict College
Campus opens at Noon Monday, February 2nd.
Claflin University will operate on a delayed start schedule, starting at noon on February 2nd. All classes will be held in person.
Columbia International University will be closed on Monday, February 2nd.
SC State University will operate on a delayed start schedule, starting at Noon on Monday, February 2nd.
University of South Carolina will be closed on Monday, February 2nd, but classes will resume as normal on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
Columbia College will operate remotely on Monday, February 2, due to hazardous road conditions. All classes will be held online, and employees will work remotely. The full update can be found here: https://www.columbiasc.edu/
V.V.Reid School will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026.
- Lee County School District officials say due to the impending Winter storm forecasted to impact the area this weekend, including the potential for snowfall and below-freezing temperatures, all schools in the district will be eLearning on Monday, February 2, 2026.
- All afterschool programs, field trips, and extracurricular activities are canceled for Monday, February 2, 2026.
- Lee County School District has designated Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as an eLearning Day for all students and staff members.
Lexington School District Three:
- Lexington eLearning Day for Monday, February 2nd
- On Tuesday, Feb. 3, all schools in the district will operate on a two-hour delay, and schools will dismiss at its normal times.
Lexington School District Four:
- Due to the possibility of a Winter storm impacting the area, and possibility causing snow all schools in the district will have an eLearning Day on Monday, February 2, 2026.
- All weekend activities are canceled, and afterschool activities and athletics for Monday are canceled.
- On Tuesday, Feb. 3, all schools in the district will operate on a two-hour delay, and follow a normal schedule for the rest of the school day.
School District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties:
- All schools and offices in School District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties will transition to e-Learning on Monday, February 2, 2026.
- All extracurricular events and after-school childcare programs are canceled on Saturday, January 31, through Monday, February 2.
- School District Five will operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Richland County School District One:
- All Richland One schools and administrative offices will be closed Monday, February 2, 2026.
- Monday will be an e-learning day for students and a work-from-home day for staff.
- All afterschool programs, activities and events that were scheduled for Monday, February 2, including athletics games and practices have been canceled.
- All activities and events that were scheduled for Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1 are also canceled.
Fairfield County School District:
- Due to the potential for hazardous wintry conditions this weekend and Monday, February 2, all school-related activities scheduled for this weekend have been canceled.
- All FCSD schools and the District Office will be closed on Monday, February 2, 2026.
- The district will continue to monitor the weather forecast, and the schedule for Tuesday, February 3 will be determined at a later date.
- Fairfield County School District announces that tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3rd, will be an e-Learning Day for all FCSD students and teachers.
- All FCSD schools and the District Office will be closed on Tuesday.
Heathwood Hall will be closed and all activities are canceled for the day on Monday, February 2.
Kershaw County School District:
- KSCD announces Monday, February 2 as an e-Learning Day
- District officials say Tuesday, Feb. 3, will also be an e-Learning Day due to road conditions.
- Tuesday after-school activities canceled
- All offices in the district will be closed
Sumter School District:
- All schools in the district will have an eLearning Day on February 2, 2026, due to projected snow accumulation, extremely cold temperatures, and hazardous driving conditions.
- All activities, including athletic events and field trips, are canceled as well.
- Sumter schools will have another day of eLearning on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026.
Richland School District Two:
E-learning Monday
Richland School District One:
- All Richland One schools and administrative offices will be closed Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
- Tuesday will be an e-learning day for students and a work-from-home day for staff.
Lexington School District Two:
- Due to lingering impacts from this weekend’s winter storm, Lexington Two will cancel school on Monday, February 2.
- The district will use its scheduled weather make-up day on Friday, March 13, for in-person instruction.
- There will be no after-school activities, programs, or games. Schools will communicate with families directly about any games or events that will be rescheduled.
- Lexington Two schools and offices will open on a two-hour delayed start on Tuesday, February 3.
Newberry Co. Schools:
The School District of Newberry County will operate on an e-Learning schedule on Monday, February 2 as well as Tuesday, February 3.
Orangeburg County School District:
Orangeburg Co. School District says after a productive eLearning Day on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, the next school day will be a normal schedule.
All schools in the district will operate on a normal schedule tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Saluda County School District:
Saluda County School District will operate on a normal schedule tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Lexington School District Four:
All schools and district offices in Lexington County School District One will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026.
