One dead in shooting on Cutlers Court, 1 arrested for murder

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department say they are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Cutlers Court.
At around 1:10 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15, deputies say they were dispatched to the 10 block of Cutlers Ct in reference to someone being shot.
There, they found the victim inside of a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.
Deputies say they began to render aid to the victim until EMS arrived to transport the victim to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
RCSD investigators and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to investigate. This investigation is ongoing.
Law enforcement say Rasheed Hawkins, 23, was arrested in connection with the shooting.
The sheriff’s department says investigators were able to determine that Hawkins and the victim met at the location for the sale of an iPhone.
He is accused of intending to rob the victim which led to the victim being shot multiple times.
Hawkins was found on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at around 1 a.m. by RCSD’s Fugitive Task Force and Special Response Team and placed him under arrest.
During a interview deputies had with Hawkins, he confessed to the shooting, says RCSD.
He was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
And taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
