Richland Two pilots new Ai program for students
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The thought of using artificial intelligence is scary for some, but not for everyone.
Thanks to a program Richland School District Two is piloting, some students are embracing the technology as a path to their future.
They are learning to train a computer to mimic human intelligence to produce an answer or output faster than a person.
During the semester-long introduction to artificial intelligence course 10th through 12th graders apply the technology to industries like entertainment, agriculture, and manufacturing.
The SC Department of Education says Richland Two’s student innovation center is one of 14 schools and centers across the state taking part in the artificial intelligence pathway pilot.
Education officials will gather structured feedback from students and teachers to refine the program before implementing it more broadly.
