Midlands school to see more local grown food after new state program

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Students in one Midlands school district will see more locally grown foods on their plate thanks to a new state program called Certified SC Cafeteria.

Officials with Lexington-Richland District Five say the program gives schools the opportunity to expose students to fresh produce and educate them on where it is grown.

Lexington-Richland Five is one of 67 districts participating in the program throughout the state.
