RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– RCSD says one person was arrested after trying to evade deputies during a traffic stop in the area of Spears Creek Church Road.

Tues, Feb. 24, around 12:55 p.m., a deputy was responding to back up another deputy because a suspect was evading deputies after a traffic stop.

While enroute to the area, a vehicle turned in front of the deputy.

The deputy swerved to avoid the vehicle and collided with an electric pole, according to Richland Co. Sheriff’s Dept.

Investigators say Spears Creek Road was shut down while Dominion repaired the pole.

The deputy was seen at the hospital for minor injuries.

No other parties were injured.

The suspect from the original traffic stop was apprehended and taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

The driver of the vehicle that turned in front of the deputy was cited for failure to yield.
