Senate panel votes on vaccine bills
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– As the measles outbreak continues with nearly one thousand cases a panel of Senators voted on two separate bills on children’s immunization requirements.
The panel voted to advance a bill that would prohibit vaccine mandates for kids under two years old.
The Senators voted against a bill requiring all public school children to be vaccinated from measles no longer allowing religious exemptions.
The SC State Department of Public Health has reported a total of 990 measles cases connected to the Upstate outbreak.
They advise people to get the measles vaccine which is 97% effective.
