RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A substitute teacher at Blythewood High School was arrested after deputies say he had a firearm on school grounds.
On Monday, March 9, 2026, around 9 a.m., school officials were alerted by the campus metal detector that there was a firearm in Justin Fox’s bag.
SROs were notified and responded to the metal detectors to secure the firearm and detain Fox, according to the Richland Co. Sheriff’s Dept.
The sheriff’s department says SROs confirmed that Fox is the legal owner of the gun, and that he reportedly forgot the firearm was in his bag.
Fox was charged with carrying weapon on school property and taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
