Sumter School District selects new Superintendent

SUMTER CO., S.C. (WOLO) – The Sumter County School District has chosen its new Superintendent.

According to the district, on Monday night, the Board of Trustees unanimously selected Dr. Gerald Gary as Sumter School District Superintendent pending successful negotiations.

Dr. Gary currently works as the Chief Operations Officer at Lexington-Richland School District 5.

This comes after Dr. William Wright resigned as Superintendent in August of 2025.
