High school student arrested, charged after gun found on campus

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County deputies say a Richland Northeast High School student was arrested after a gun was found on campus.

Authorities say on March 24, 2026, around 8:40 a.m. campus security found a black handgun while searching Jamier Daniel’s backpack upon his entry to school.

SROs were notified and responded to secure the firearm and arrest Daniel.

The student was charged with carrying weapon on school property and taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
