William Webster launches campaign for SC Governor race

SOUTH CAROLINA (WOLO) – Another candidate has thrown his hat in for the gubernatorial race.

William Webster, Greenville native and businessman, has launched his campaign for the Governor seat.

He’ll hold a press conference today at 2 p.m. at the Bojangles on Fort Jackson Boulevard.

Webster, who will run as a Democrat, says his campaign will focus on several issues in the Palmetto State, including fixing the state’s infrastructure, protecting our clean water, affordability in health care and rising utility costs.

He will join fellow Democrats like Rep. Jermaine Johnson and lawyer Mullins McLeod in the race.

For the Republicans, Attorney General Alan Wilson, Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, Rep. Nancy Mace, Rep. Ralph Norman, Sen. Josh Kimbrell & businessman Rom Reedy are also in the running.

This comes as Governor Henry McMaster’s term expires in 2027.

The filing period closes Monday, March 30 at Noon.

The primary election starts June 9 & the general election starts November 3.
