Calhoun Co. deputies arrest man in connection with illegal gambling

CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Calhoun County deputies have arrested one man in connection with illegal gambling, said the sheriff’s office.

Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department said, due to following up anonymous tips from the community an investigation launched into an illegal gambling operation.

The investigation led to the illegal gambling operation in the Sandy Run area of Calhoun County to be shut down.

“𝙄𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙮 — 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙,” Sheriff Summers said.

With the assistance of SLED, deputies were able to arrest Irvin Phillip Rogers, Jr. who is accused of operating an illegal gambling house.

Rogers was charged with unlawful possession &/or operation of slot, video, vending machine or gambling device, unlawful games and betting, keeping unlawful gaming tables, and unlawful storage of liquor.
