SC Senate passes restroom bill
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The SC Senate has advanced a bill that would require students in public schools and universities to use restrooms and changing facilities based on the sex listed on their birth certificate.
It also says the State Department of Education can withhold 25% of funds from school districts that fail to comply.
Supporters say this protects students’ privacy while critics say it unfairly targets transgender students.
The bill now heads to the House.
