Seven displaced from fire on Summit Terrace Court, firefighter treated for minor injuries

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — According to the Columbia-Richland Fire Department, 3rd Shift crews had to battle through high winds and rapidly changing conditions to rescue one person from a 2-Alarm fire that damaged three homes on Summit Terrace Court early Saturday morning.
Firefighters say they were called to the scene at around 2 a.m. Upon arrival they found one home heavily involved with fire and the flames were quickly spreading to the two neighboring homes.
One occupant in a neighboring house jumped from the second floor. Crews made entry and rescued a second occupant from that home on the second floor. All other residents of the properties involved escaped safely.
During the operation one firefighter suffered non-life threatening injuries and has since been released from the hospital.
The fire was extinguished and it left all three homes uninhabitable. Seven people total have been left displaced. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office.
