No new measles cases since March

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Department of Public Health (SCDPH) report no new measles cases in the state since March 17.

The total number of cases related to the Upstate outbreak remains at 997.

The department says a period of 42 days with no new cases is required to declare an end to a measles outbreak.

So if no new cases are reported the last day of the outbreak will be Sunday, April 26.

Officials continue to encourage you to get the measles vaccine which is 97% effective.
