County officials investigating inmate’s death

Richland Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Richland Co. officials say a 66 year old detainee at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center died Tuesday night.

According to a county spokesperson the detainee, whose name has not yet been released, was found unresponsive in the detention center’s recreation yard.

Officials say life-saving measures were attempted by onsite medical personnel and emergency responders who were called to the scene but were unsuccessful.

The death is being investigated by the Richland Co. Sheriff’s Dept. and the Richland Co. Coroner’s Office.
