RCSD investigating another non-fatal overdose at ASGDC

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– RCSD is investigating another non-fatal overdose at ASGDC, said the sheriff’s dept.

On Thurs, April 16, 2026, just after 1 p.m., deputies responded to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in reference to an inmate overdosing.

Upon arrival, deputies were informed that the inmate was being taken by EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

Deputies said, the inmate was alert and conscious at the time of transport.

Jail staff informed deputies they were alerted by other inmates of the overdose, RCSD said.

Jail staff administered Narcan to the inmate overdosing.

Investigators at the hospital confirmed with the inmate that the overdose was a result of ingesting narcotics inside of the jail.

The investigation into the overdose is ongoing.
