SC troopers investigating fatal Saluda County hit-and-run

SALUDA COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Troopers with the highway patrol say they are investigating a fatal hit-and-run.

Investigators say just after 10 p.m. last night, 61-year-old Mark Wharton of Monetta was driving West on Columbia Highway near the Roseland Drive intersection in Saluda Co. when he hit a deer.

While he was in the roadway, troopers say an unknown vehicle hit Wharton, killing him.
