LCSD: Body recovered in Lake Murray Thursday
LEXINGTON, CO., S.C. (WOLO) – Lexington County deputies say a woman’s body was recovered in Lake Murray Thursday morning.
According to investigators, on Wednesday, a man reported his wife missing after he last saw her at 7 a.m. When he woke up around 1 p.m., she didn’t return home and the car was gone.
The husband says she may have dementia but no official medical diagnoses.
Authorities say the car was later found at the Lake Murray Public Park, 2101 N. Lake Dr., but the missing woman was not inside.
Deputies reviewed surveillance footage which showed the lady arrived to the park around Noon and walked towards the walkway of the Lake Murray dam.
Deputies responded on the Irmo side of the dam investigating what appeared to be an accidental drowning.
The department’s dive team members staged there, entered the water and eventually recovered the body.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s identity as of yet, as the investigation continues.
