City of Cayce Council approves installation of troll sculpture

CAYCE, S.C. (WOLO)– A giant troll is coming to the Midlands.

Officials with the City of Cayce say the council approved the installation of a signature troll sculpture created by internationally acclaimed Danish Artist Thomas Dambo.

A city spokesperson says the initiative represents a strategic investment in tourism, community identity, and economic growth.

The project is being funded by designated hospitality and accommodations tax revenues, which are restricted for tourism-related purposes.

Officials say the city is estimating around $355,000 for the troll itself and anywhere between $40,000 and $90,000 in associated costs.

They say they are pursuing grants and private sponsorships as well.

Officials say they are still working to confirm the specific troll design and where it will be located.
