Fugitive caught on USC campus prompting Carolina Alert

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)–  Richland Co. deputies say a man wanted in the Upstate prompted an alert on the USC campus.

Investigators say the Anderson Co. fugitive was spotted in the area of Harbison Blvd. and I-26.

Deputies say a chase ensued ending at the intersection of Blossom and Assembly Streets where the suspect ran into the Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness building.

Columbia Police asked drivers in the area to avoid Assembly Street, and Blossom Street due to the law enforcement activity in the area.

Authorities say the suspect was arrested and no injuries were reported.

USC police sent out a Carolina Alert to students and faculty to avoid the area due to the pursuit.
