Local Living: Barbecue Festival and Parade, Capital City Derby, Columbia Black Expo, Midlands Gives
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— In today’s look at Local Living, the Town of Eastover’s 47th annual Barbecue Festival and Parade kicks off Saturday, May 2.
The parade starts at 12 p.m. leaving from Webber Elementary School with the festival at 624 Main Street.
There will be live music, a kids zone, and plenty of bbq.
The event is free to attend.
If you can’t make it to the Kentucky Derby, don’t worry.
The 4th annual Capital City Derby is galloping into town this Sunday, May 3, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Farm at Ridgeway.
It’s all to raise funds for the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
Get ready for a celebration of culture and flavor.
The Columbia Black Expo kicks off next week with several events.
Guests will enjoy celebrity appearances, educational seminars, and dynamic live performances.
It takes place Saturday, May 16, at the state fairgrounds.
You can also enjoy food with the Taste of Black Columbia on May 15.
The early giving period for Midlands Gives is still open through Monday, May 4.
The Central Carolina Community Foundation helps hundreds of nonprofit organizations each year with the giving challenge.
The 13th annual Midlands Gives Day is next Tuesday, May 5, from 6 in the morning to midnight.
