New option for affordable housing in the Midlands built

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– There is now a new option for affordable housing in the Midlands.

Friday morning, May 1, 2026, officials with Columbia Housing and Mungo Homes held a dedication ceremony for the Oaks at Saint Anna’s housing community.

Officials say the new community features 190 town homes and  95 1-bedroom units for senior citizens.

The new community sits on the former site of Gonzalez Gardens, which prior to its demolition, was the oldest public housing facility in the country.
