SC labor force reaches record high

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The number of people working in the state continues to grow.

According to the SC Department of Employment and Workforce, as of March 2026, the number of residents working in the state reached a new all-time high of more than two point five million people.

Department Director William Floyd says the industries seeing the most growth were in the service sector including health care and social assistance.
